I have always had a fascination with ephemera, particularly relating to turbulence. Perhaps this is an influence of my profession as an environmental engineer dealing with the movement of energy, light and air through buildings, which often involves dealing with turbulence.
Over the last few years, I have become interested in expanding my horizons beyond classical landscape photography. Turbulent Planet marks a transition in my interests towards capturing ephemera. The fickle weather and the ever changing sea present constant variety and are the most obviously turbulent systems we come across in nature. Weather, Wind and Water are inextricably, but often inexplicably, linked in their behaviour.
This project has seen me heading out in all weathers to locations without obvious photogenicity. My subject has simply been the conjunction of weather and tide.
