I am still processing the outcomes of our recent trip to Madeira. On one of my days off from ‘serious’ photography, we stopped into the restaurant at Sao Tiago Fort for lunch, and afterwards decided to explore it a little further. Being a dedicated tog, of course I had a camera with me.
The fortress of Sao Tiago dates back to the 16th and 17th Centuries and was built to defend the port of Funchal from pirates. Madeira was a key stopping off point for traders on the routes from Europe to the New World, as well as producing its own highly valued wines for export.
